Additionally, our consultants (who are Respiratory Educators) can provide a detailed assessment of your respiratory health and clear and concise education focused on empowering you to take control of your breathing and overall health.
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
If you have been diagnosed with COPD, there are many things you can do to make yourself feel better and control your symptoms during your daily activities. Remedy registered Respiratory Educator (the consultant) will work with you to prepare a COPD action/management plan specifically for you.
Asthma can occur at any age and the inflammation is triggered by various environmental factors and allergens (pollen, perfumes, flu viruses, cold and others. Self care with the support of your health care professional is an integral part of managing your asthma and living a normal daily life.
To help you control your Asthma, a Remedy registered Respiratory Educator (the consultant) will work with you to prepare an asthma action/management plan specifically for you which will focus on:
- Reducing the frequency, intensity and impairment of Asthma symptoms.
- Ways to reduce the risk of asthma attacks.
- How to manage and reduce the risk of progressive decline of lung function.
- Medication their use, side effects and how to manage them.
- Learn all of your asthma triggers and the ones that impact you most.
- Learn how to deal with asthma in the workplace.
- Learn relaxation breathing techniques.
The consultant will also help you to monitor/record your symptoms to enable you to communicate with your doctor and make any necessary Remedy/medication modifications with your physician.
If your child is an asthma sufferer learn:
- When to keep them out of school.
- How to gauge how asthma friendly their school is and how to avoid asthma inducing situations at school.
- Instructions on how they need to deal with an asthma attacks.
Chronic cough is the single most common cause for visiting a doctor. It refers to a cough that has been present for more than three months. Most coughs are self-limiting but more persistent coughs are usually caused by asthma, sinus disease, gastro esophageal reflux (or heart burn) and an unusual type of bronchitis called eosinophilic bronchitis. Most Chronic Coughs can be resolved by a careful review of your symptoms.
