Dr.Darren Warburton is the co-Director of the Physical Activity Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Unit at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is also the founder and director of the Cardiovascular Physiology and Rehabilitation Laboratory at UBC and was the director of the Sport Cardiology and Musculoskeletal Assessment Research Team (SMART 2010) for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He is a lead investigator in the Top Secret Own the Podium program, and oversees the training and assessment of high performance athletes from various sports. He is also co-director of the Physical Activity Support Line and led the development of the new Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire for Everyone (PAR-Q+) and the new electronic Physical Activity Readiness Medical Examination (ePARmed-X+). He is also the lead investigator on the development of clinical exercise prescriptions for a variety of chronic medical conditions.
